I just love marionettes
This past week we shot some new TV spots for a client. In one of them we got to use some marionettes and that allowed me to venture into a very magical, almost mystical place full of every kind of puppet you could imagine. As a child, I was totally infatuated with puppets and marionettes. I even dreamed of working for Jim Henson. I think puppets are a fascinating piece of human history. These dolls that move can actually come to life and seem to have real human emotion, all because of the talented puppeteers pouring themselves into these bits of wood, cloth and papier maché. This shot is of just one of the hundreds of shelves full of marionettes of every shape and size. One up to ten feet tall.
